Beckett turned 6 years old yesterday! It's hard to believe our baby is 6 and in Kindergarten.
Beckett started PMK last month and goes to school from 1-4p. His teacher is Ms Hurley.
He rides the bus home from school with Hudson which they both enjoy.
He is so excited to have his own teacher, classroom, tiger bag, homework, field trips, etc.
I think he's heard big brother talk about all of these things for so long and now it's finally his turn!
Beckett is learning the alphabet in sign language in class.
They are working on reading, writing, drawing and other special crafts.
Beckett now has PE with Mr Rainy (sp?) which is SO EXCITING!
We have seen a remarkable change in Beckett lately in terms of his overall demeanor.
He is COMPLETELY into reading and is going through Geronimo Stilton books w lightning speed.
He is supposed to read 20 minutes every day and he oftentimes sits and reads for an hour.
Beckett is in Fall soccer with the usual suspects (coach Skyler, Cru, and Brooklyn).
He is definitely one of the tallest (if not the tallest) on the team as we have him playing down in the Pre-K league in order to be with his friends. He is aggressive and understands the game.
We actually have to encourage him to pass the ball and give others a chance to score.
We will get back into swim lessons in November once soccer wraps up and we have a little break.
Beckett was in LTS level 2 last time and we'll repeat that level in hopes to pass to level 3 by the end.
Beckett is still very fond of "Chelsea" and we got together for a play date last month.
He gave her a little plastic heart shaped ring and a heart shaped brownie as well. SO CUTE!
He will be going on a field trip next week to the Remlinger Pumpkin Patch and mommy gets to be a chaperone. This will be a first for mommy and he's excited to do his first SLE field trip.
Beckett got a new bike for his birthday. He is such a great bike rider and no longer requires training wheels. This new bike has hand brakes and he figured it out right away.
We are going to Lake Chelan's "The Lookout" tomorrow for the weekend to celebrate his birthday and to attend Great Gma Ethel's memorial service in Tonasket.
Gma JoAnn is meeting us at The Lookout so we'll do a bigger birthday celebration this weekend!
Beckett occasionally wets the bed but it's pretty rare and typically because he drank too much after dinner. He is showering by himself, dressing himself, and takes care of feeding the dogs in the AM.
His temperament has changed along with his vocabulary and I have to believe they are associated. He no longer lays on the ground having tantrums and is able to articulate his thoughts much easier.
We are in such a GREAT place right now with Beckett. He listens, obeys, is helpful, and responsible.
Being in school is doing amazing things for him. I can't wait to see how the rest of the year unfolds.

5 1/2 years 41.8 lbs
Beckett is now 5 1/2 years old and getting taller, heavier, and more articulate.
Over the last 6 months his appetite has changed and he seems to be eating more. Daddy has also made him nap a bit lately so we think he's probably growing. We've had other people comment about how tall he is against his soccer teammates so I think it's safe to say he's experiencing a spurt.
He's in the middle of Spring Soccer and we're seeing glimpses of aggression and focus which is good. He still plays with Cru and Brooklyn so it's nice to have familiar faces. Beckett did GREAT in his last swim lessons. He graduated from Pre-School level 3 and was told he could skip ahead to LTS level 2. We're hoping to get back into swimming this Summer.
B is now registered for Kindergarten and it looks like he'll be in AMK in the Fall. We have orientation next month but will likely not find out who his teacher is until later this Summer. He has a week long Kindergarten camp in August (Hudson didn't have this). I think this could be good for him before starting in September!
Daddy has been focused on developing his reading skills and works him through Hop on Pop sometimes before bedtime. He is able to write all of his letters and numbers up to 20. They are a little squiggly and we occasionally get an "E" instead of a "3" but he's working on it at school and getting better and better. Beckett is getting into Word Searches and really seems to like them. He still likes to play games with mommy and his latest favorite is Monopoly Empire (thanks to nana's introduction).
We just returned from Victoria for Spring Break. While we were there, we went to Munro's bookstore where I introduced Beckett to the Where's Waldo books. I think these would be a great focus tool for Beckett and he gravitated to it right away!
Beckett has a special "friend" at school named Chelsea. The teacher has made us aware of this connection and Chelsea's mom specifically reached out to say Chelsea wanted Beckett to sign up for VBS this Summer. We will probably invite them to one of our Summer outdoor movie nights. Beckett has mentioned that he'd like to marry Chelsea and asked me, "how old do you have to be to get married?". He has it bad for Chelsea and it sounds like it's mutual. TOO CUTE!
