It's hard to believe our little baby Beckett-boo is 5 years old.
Beckett is in pre-K this year @ NLP and in Ms. Corinne's class. He seems to like her a lot and now has school 4 days/week (M-Th 9:15-11:45). He is learning how to hold a pencil and write letters of the alphabet. He makes a lot of crafts and learns new songs every week. Last week he went on a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch where he got to pick out his own pumpkin!
Beckett hit a major milestone just recently. He is now able to ride a bike WITHOUT training wheels. We took them off and while he was initially apprehensive, after a couple trips down to Hudson's school parking lot, he was riding 100% on his own. He is able to stop and start as well. It's so fun to watch him and Hudson ride their bikes together and realize a new found freedom and independence.
Another nice mini milestone is that Beckett is able to buckle his own seatbelt in the car. This is a nice time savings for mommy when we're in a hurry and need to get in the car and go right away!
Beckett graduated from pre-school level 2 to pre-school level 3 at Covington Aquatic Center in June. We plan to resume swim lessons again after the Holidays so that we can check this milestone box as well. Beckett is also playing Fall soccer and daddy is his asst coach again this season. He gets out on the field without a problem but sort of just follows the group of kids around who are chasing the ball. If he were to get the ball, I don't think he would necessarily know what to do with it. Contrarily, daddy says he's pretty aggressive at practice.
Beckett absolutely LOVES doing mazes. He's really good at them and solves them quickly. He got a book of mazes for his birthday and had the whole book completed within 24 hours.
He also likes to play games which mommy loves. Right now his favorites are Chutes&Ladders, UNO, Garbage, and Sorry. He also loves when we read him books. Mommy started reading the Chronicles of Narnia and recently wrapped up the Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe. Next up....The Magician's Nephew.
Beckett goes to his 5 year well-child appointment on Friday. We're going to talk to his doctor about a few things. He has some interesting pigment dots on his skin. We're not sure if it's malasma or just skin tissue from a lack of sun screen application during the Summer. We think his left foot may turn in slightly from the knee down. We went on a hike up Tiger Mtn and were really noticing it. Finally, he seems to be a mouth breather and we're thinking he may need to have his tonsils removed just like his big brother. Perhaps that's why he gets crazy sometimes....lack of good sleep. ???
Beckett's best friend (other than his brother 50% of the time) is a little stuffed Giraffe appropriately named "Giraffee". Nana bought him some premi baby clothes that fit him perfectly and Beckett always makes sure that his jammies are on at night and that he gets dressed in the morning. Just recently Giraffee lost his pants so we have a pantless giraffe wandering our house.
Beckett continues to be a spit-fire with a wild temperament. He is strong willed and speaks his mind. He has endless energy and makes noise wherever he goes. His language is progressing and he seems to throw less tantrums but still gets really frustrated when we don't fully understand what he's trying to communicate. We love his feisty nature and clown-like personality. He loves attention and being silly in front of an audience. He adds so much to our family and we love, love, love him to death!
