4 1/2 years

Beckett is 4 1/2 as of today. He is getting to be such a big boy with regard to his vocabulary and skills. Right now he's outside helping daddy stack wood. Daddy chops it and Beckett loads the pieces into his wagon and pulls it over to the barn where he takes it out and puts it into a nice little pile. He is definitely a chip off the old block when it comes to similarities to his daddy. He is a little Beau.

Beckett has been very busy the last 6 months. He continues to enjoy going to school and especially loves the days when daddy gets to go in and help out. Last month daddy did a firefighter's "show and share" to Beckett's class about fire safety. He is learning a lot, from songs and stories to how to hold a pencil and write his name. He has no problem separating when going into his classroom in the morning and always comes home in a good mood after school. His teacher says she's "trying to get him to speak up more" in class which is ironic as we can't get him to be quiet and still at home.
We completed registration for the '15-16 school year and were successful in securing 4 days/week.

In addition to school, Beckett was in swim lessons in January/February (level 1/level 2 consecutively). He took a break from swim to start Spring Soccer (3/4) in March/April. He will return to swimming in May/June before taking the rest of the Summer off.

Beckett has also hit 3 important milestones recently :
The first is that he no longer takes naps. He was phasing out of these on his own and while mommy/daddy were really holding onto them there were less and less moments of when he would actually sleep. He is able to make it through the day w/o being tired although he does seem to have a challenging temperament overall. (more on that in a minute)

The second is that he no longer wears pull-ups! We started letting him keep underwear on when he went to bed but would wake him before we went to prevent any nighttime accidents. The last couple nights I haven't woken him up and he's been dry in the morning. Yah!

The third is that Beckett is now in a booster seat in the car! While he was not quite 40 lbs we made the transition a little early and it's much easier for everyone. He's able to unbuckle himself on his own which is nice when we're all trying to get out of the car.

Beckett is still our wild child. He does not seem to care about the rules like his older brother. He also doesn't have the same particularities. However, he does get highly irritable when he feels like justice has not been served. We oftentimes have to go back to the actual point of injustice in order to reconcile the issue at hand. His emotions sometimes seem out of balance with his experiences. He has tantrums and can get really riled up. When this happens it's extremely hard to get him to reset. He is aggressive with his emotions be they good or bad. He sometimes vacillates between volatile manic moments and sweet gentle exchanges. (all while gritting his teeth) He definitely keeps us guessing and oftentimes scratching our heads. He has a lot of energy and loves to have books read to him, work puzzles, play in the playroom/sandbox, and work with daddy. He recently used all the $$ in his piggy bank to make his first purchase....a Kindle! He loves this most of all.

There is a vibrant energy in our home because of Beckett. He makes me smile and laugh and still lets me give him kisses and cuddles. In so many ways he still feels like my baby.

We love you Beckett-Boo!
