Our baby Beckett-boo turned 4 today! It's hard to believe that 4 years ago we were in the hospital room getting to know the newest addition to our family. A day I'll never forget!

Beckett started pre-school this Fall and goes to New Life Xn Pre-School at the end of Sweeney Rd. He goes T/TH from 9:30-12 and his teacher is Mrs. Laura. He seems to really enjoy having his "own" school so he's more like big brother. He is learning new songs and stories, the month and days of the week and a variety of craft activities. He recently had picture day and they have a field trip to a pumpkin patch next week. The school is a co-op so both mommy & daddy got a chance to volunteer in his class to see first hand what his new environment entails. We are already looking forward to having him there 3 days/week next year.

Beckett is also playing Fall soccer w Covington Parks & Recreation. He is getting out on the field this year which is a big improvement from standing on the sidelines not letting go of mommy's hand last season. He still has a lot of opportunities to understand what to do while on the field but we're trying to focus on the fact that he's out there and participating.

Beckett is still wearing pull-ups but only when he sleeps. He is still taking a nap and actually sleeps less and less often but needs the downtime regardless. He's getting over a cold right now so could definitely use any extra rest. He wears underwear while not sleeping and is able to use the bathroom unassisted for both #1 and #2. Yah!! Our next milestone celebrations will be getting rid of pull-ups altogether and moving from his car seat to a booster once he's 40 lbs.

We went to Great Wolf Lodge this weekend to celebrate Beckett's birthday. He had a great time (although a cough made it rough for him to sleep) and went on the little water slides over and over all by himself. He would just walk right up to the top, stand in line and get on the slide on his own. Mommy is going to make ice-cream cone shaped cupcakes to take to his class later this week.

Beckett's vocabulary is improving especially with his "R's". Daddy is especially happy to see this. He is starting to use more and more phrases which he more often than not doesn't know the meaning of. So it's pretty funny to hear him use them out of context. For example, last night at dinner he kept saying, "speaking of that..." but then had nothing to follow it up with. Or when playing a game he said we needed to read the "constructions" rather than instructions. Too funny!

Beckett's favorite go-to lunch is a PBH. He definitely prefers honey over jam. Although lately daddy has been buying the "healthy peanut butter" and so grilled cheese sandwiches are quickly becoming a new favorite ;) He was on a massive fresh spinach kick for awhile which seems to have mellowed. He loves oatmeal w peanut butter & honey in it, cod, shrimp, cucumbers and any pasta w butter & parmesan cheese. Today I introduced him to apple cider which I didn't think he'd care for and he LOVED it! The perfect Fall drink in my opinion.

Beckett has a doctor and dentist appointment tomorrow. This will be the last set of shots for several years! We'll be happy when the shot part is over :(

We look forward to enrolling Beckett in swim lessons after the holidays. He gets a lot of practice getting his head under the water in the hot tub and when swimming with a life vest he's very confident. We just need to add some elementary stroke instructions to round out his skills.

Beckett continues to have a rambunctious personality. Oftentimes switching from exhilaration to frustration on a dime. He is definitely in a mommy phase and loves to hold hands whenever out and about often telling me "tighter" if my hand hold isn't firm enough around his.

He is a joy and so much fun. I can't imagine our lives without our little crazy man. We love you B!

Beckett is now 3 1/2 years old and becoming more and more of his own individual.  He has a very dynamic and contagious personality. He has a flare for tantrums and mischief but loves to laugh and joke around. It's hard to keep your hands off of him as you just never know what you're gonna' get.

We registered him for Spring Soccer assuming he'd enjoy it like last Fall. Unfortunately, we saw a major regression and he wouldn't even practice with the team or get on the field for game days. Needless to say we're anxiously awaiting our last game (next Sat) to put an end to this painful season.

We also enrolled him in pre-school starting this Fall. He'll go 2 days/week which will be really good for him. Lately he's been pretty clingy and has a hard time with other kids around. I think he definitely needs some socialization as he hasn't had much since we pulled him from daycare 8+ months ago. However, he must be potty trained which we're still working on. We're seeing some slow progress but it's definitely S-L-O-W. We've tried to dangle Great Wolf Lodge as a motivator and subsequently booked a night for Hudson's birthday next month. So we're crossing our fingers....
He wears pull-ups during the day and is able to get them on/off to sit on the big toilet to pee/poo. He wears diapers at night.

He has a dentist appt on Monday and seems to have much cleaner teeth than Hudson. We'll see what the dentist has to say.

Beckett is sleeping less and less during his nap time so mommy is fine with it becoming his quiet time. This way he goes down much easier at night.

Recently we heard him start to spell Hudson's name and today he was spelling his own name. He doesn't seem to have the natural academic inclinations that his big brother did but he more than makes up for it with his personality. He has a mean temper and is stubborn but we think part of that is a stage of not having the proper vocabulary to articulate his emotions.

He is getting bigger and bigger all the time and is wearing some of the clothes Hudson has only recently outgrown. He is starting to react and even instigate aggression when he feels oppressed by Hudson. He's definitely physical and it's good to see him stand on his own.

He is such a firecracker and a dynamic addition to our family. I can't imagine our lives without him.

We love you so much Beckett-boo!!
