BECKETT IS 2 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s hard to believe our baby is already a toddler and on his way to being a preschooler. He is changing so much in his development and his looks and we love watching the evolution of his personality and continuing to get to know him.
In the last month Beckett went through a major transition. He moved out of his crib and into a big boy bed with a brand new comforter thanks to Gma & Gpa Chambers. After a rough couple of days popping out of bed he is doing much better. When we put him to bed he frequently tells us “don’t get out of bed” and he follows his own advice.
Beckett’s verbal prowess continues to evolve and develop. He is speaking in sentences and constantly surprising us at all of the things he’s picking up (both good and bad). As part of this evolution he has recently started telling us when he has a dirty diaper, “poo-poo diaper”. I’m hopeful this is our first step toward potty training. To that end, he is very interested in watching Hudson use the toilet and enjoys sitting on his little training toilet. However, we have yet to see any activity transpire.
Beckett is always watching Hudson and often imitates his big brother for better or worse. He is Hudson’s right hand man when taking out the trash or feeding the dogs.
Beckett seems to have a physicality that I don’t remember with Hudson. He continues to be this bulldozer of a boy. He is so strong and loves to rough house and jump into and on mommy. He also likes to jump around the house.
We just gave him his 2nd haircut so you can see more of his face that gives him a whole new look.
We look forward to celebrating Beckett’s 2nd birthday!
23 months (26.5 lbs)
In the last month Beckett has gone through a verbal spurt. He is using short sentences and repeats everything he hears. He cracks daddy up by entering a room and saying, "whatcha' doin' buddy?" We're still working on the words for Twinkle Twinkle but he gets pieces here and there. He also sings pieces of the ABC song and Old MacDonald.
He is getting much more independent and demands that I stand way back when he climbs into the car and then up into his car seat. He doesn't want ANY help from mommy.
We really want to start being more vigilant about potty training and are anxious to be out of the diaper phase. For now, occasionally Beckett will point to his diaper and say pee-pee or poo-poo.
He and Hudson are starting to play quietly together more and more. At times they'll go up to 30 minutes just playing in Hudson's room or running around the house jumping off the beds.
His terrible 2's are definitely emerging and there are times when he's inconsolable. He'll just whine and nothing satiates him. When this gets out of control we threaten "ni-ni" and sometimes he ends up in a "time-out" in his crib. He's usually better by the time he comes out.
He still sleeps really well and eats much better than Hudson ever has. He loves proteins. Particularly salmon, chicken, and tuna. Currently he is a HUGE fan of graham crackers. Unlike his brother he's not a big fan of fruit. So much like his daddy in many ways.
I can't believe he turns 2 years old in a couple of weeks. It's been such a fun first couple years w/ him.
We love you Beckett-boo!

Beckett had his first trip to urgent care. We took both he and Hudson because Hudson had a really bad cough and Beckett starting showing similar symptoms. The state of WA has a pertussis (whopping cough) epidemic right now so we didn't want to take any chances. Hudson's test restults were negative. Regardless, they were both on antibiotics for a week which seemed to take care of it.
Beckett is getting taller and really looking more grown up. He is nearly 2 and has the whining to prove it. We've noticed an increase in fussiness and want to nip it in the bud. So we've started threatening "ni-ni" and putting him in his bed if/when he doesn't stop.
We are starting to think about his transition into a big boy bed and daddy has been keeping an eye out for a good deal on a bunk bed. Beckett attempted to sleep on the blow up bed for a nap but that didn't work...he got up and walked out of his room. I think we should try a sleeping bag on his floor. We've put that on pause but should probably get more disciplined about it.
His appetite has also subsided. It could be due to the fact that he eats more snacks and LOVES graham crackers and raisins right now.
His vocabulary is excelling. He is starting to sing "twinkle twinkle" to himself and knows the first 2 words of the song but can't get past that for now. He imitates Hudson a lot and has started singing the ABC song as well. He is getting really good at saying "please" and "Hudson-STOP!". Mommy taught him to say "I'm a cutie pie"...it's hilarious.
He is so stinking cute and mommy is trying to take in every last moment of Beckett being a toddler.

In the last month Beckett has become more comfortable with mommy when before he was more of a daddy's boy. Perhaps because daddy & big brother went out of town for several days (Montana) so mommy & Beckett got a chance to really bond.
He is experiencing a verbal explosion and says more and more words everyday. Every morning when Hudson & Daddy were gone he would wake up and say, "Hudson?" "Daddy?"
He's learning to nod his head when he means "yes". We're trying to get him to actually say the word.
He continues to love to be outside and now that's it's summertime he has a delicious fascination with the raspberries in the garden. Who wouldn't?
He has started to grab at his crotch and I'm wondering if it's when he's pee'd or poo'd. So we set up the little Bjorn potty chair and he likes to sit on it. We have tried a couple times to sit him on it w/o his diaper but at this point that doesn't last very long before he wants to stand up.
He, like Hudson tends to become clumsy when he's tired so he's got some bumps, bruises and a split lip from falling in the last week. I just figure he's a little boy and that's part of it.
We gave him his first haircut. I was holding out for a long time because I didn't want to cut off his curls but it was starting to get really long so I gave in. His curls are gone but he still looks young so that's a good thing.
We love our little Beckett-boo so much and continue to enjoy watching the interaction btw he and Hudson. It's still a bit of a love/hate but lately it seems to be more love.

In the last month Beckett has started to be more generous with his kisses & hugs. If you ask him for one or the other he'll say "no" and shake his head emphatically. However, if you act like you're going to be sad and cry he'll immediately dole one out. So cute!
He's getting more physical and likes to climb onto the kitchen chairs, the swivel chair at the computer or deck chairs outside. He has also started to hit in the face. I know he's not being malicious but we're having to teach him that it's not nice.
We're starting to discipline him more as he'll do things after we say no. (i.e. throwing food off his hi-chair tray, standing on kitchen chairs, taking dishes out of the dishwasher, etc)
He's getting more verbal everyday. He's starting to repeat words back to us with conviction in his eyes with each attempt. He also just showed us that he knows Hudson's name. It sounds something like "u-sun".
He likes to push little trucks around the house making a "vrmmmm" sound.
We've also noticed his appetite subsiding and he's getting a little more paticular about what he'll eat.
All in all, he is such a sweet and happy little boy and we love to watch the evolution of both his personality and his relationship with Hudson.

Beckett is starting to put a couple of words together to form mini sentences. He is saying things like, "i want outside", "I want...juice", "I want...hat", etc.
He is getting really good at going up and down stairs on his own. He doesn't get much practice around our house but the front steps and off the deck are good training grounds.
He is so similar to Beau in so many ways. He is our little tank engine and certainly a rough and tumble BOY. He's very strong as I predicted early on in utero and has no fear at this point. His independence is starting to emerge more and more as he wants to do things on his own. He can climb into his high chair by himself.
He's also like his daddy in that he loves proteins, specifically meat and isn't huge on sweets. I'm starting to wonder if he has an aversion to red foods. He won't eat watermelon or strawberries. At least, not right now.
He takes 1 nap usually around noon and typically sleeps for a couple hours. He goes to bed between 7-7:30 depending on his signs and wakes up around 7. However, the reason he wakes up is because of Hudson either being loud or going into his room. I have a feeling if Hudson wasn't around that Beckett would easily sleep until 8. He's always been a phenomenal sleeper which makes mommy & daddy very happy.
He maintains his status as a toe head and his hair is getting really long. The curls in the back are just so cute.
He and Hudson are starting to play together much more and it is the cutest thing to watch. They tend to have a love/hate relationship and Hudson will be picking on him one minutes and then hugging & kissing him the next.
He's getting bigger and bigger and sometimes when I look at him asleep in his crib I can't believe how much of the bed his body now takes up. My baby is disappearing and a darling little boy is emerging!
We love you Beck-a-boo!

18 months (weight 25.2 lbs. 48%; height 33" 75%)
Beckett is becoming more and more verbal and is increasing his vocabulary. He says "pees" for please, "kaka" for cracker, and "chee" for cheese. If you ask him if he's hungry or wants num num he runs to his hi-chair and climbs up into it and sits down.
He is becoming quite the climber/jumper. He scares me as he likes to jump off Hudson's bed, chairs, or the front door cement steps as he doesn't realize the repercussions should I fail to catch him. We finally got our hot tub installed and Beckett absolutely loves going in it. He wears water wings and is absolutely fearless just swimming around. His hair is getting really long in the back so when it's wet it looks like this really bad rat tail. I regret cutting Hudson's curls off too soon so I want to hold out w/ B.
He's becoming more independent and wants to do more things on his own. He is getting especially good at stacking blocks. We went to the park today and he didn't want my help climbing up on the boat. Bitter/sweet :(
We are going to Cabo soon and leaving the boys w/ nana/papa for 9 days. The longest I've ever been away from Beckett has been overnight so we'll see how it goes. I'm sure they'll have a blast w/o us.
I can't believe he's 1 1/2 already. Time really does fly and while he still has quite a few baby characteristics, sadly they are changing quickly.

17 months 24 lbs (?)
The biggest change in the last month is that Beckett is no longer using a bottle. He has graduated to a sippy with cold milk/juice. A nice change to be able to put the bottle warmer away.
Beckett knows that he can get momma to hold him and definitely tries a myriad tactics. However, he really loves his dada. He's always saying "dada" and if he hears the front door slam he runs out yelling "dada? dada?" He loves to take baths with dada and splash in the "bubbles". We get a kick out of hearing him say "bubbles" as he jets out his bottom lip. Reminds me of when Hudson used to say, "I like to move it move it".
Beckett's relationship with Hudson continues to evolve. They have a love/hate relationship at the moment. There are times they'll play together and Hudson will lift him up onto the bed or the couch to bounce around or Hudson will want to feed Beckett or show him some toys. Then there are times when Hudson can't stop antagonizing him. We've started to notice Beckett not so much as retaliate but definitely get angry when Hudson bothers him. He'll try to wiggle away or hold on tighter to whatever Hudson is trying to take from him.
Beckett is wearing 18-24 month clothes and even some 2T. His shoe size is about a 6.
He continues to sleep well through the night and has one nap a day. His appetite has slowed down a little and he seems pickier in terms of what he'll eat. However, nothing like Hudson. (although Hudson is getting much much better)
We just had a long wkd getaway in Whistler and Beckett did great in the cold. He really is a little trooper and doesn't get bothered by much. We're headed to Leavenworth next wkd and I know he'll enjoy being outside in the snow there as well.
He continues to lean out and his face is becoming more angular. His hair is getting longer and longer and he has little curls at the nape of his neck. So cute!

Beckett's vocabulary has significantly accelerated within the last month. He is beginning to say little phrases. Although the words are tough to make out, his intonation is perfect. He is saying things like: "i want", "i don't want", "bye-bye", "mine", "all mine". He calls his blanket "jee-jee" and his little stuffed animal pea pod "pa pa".
He has started spinning in circles and we've even seen a couple attempts at jumping.
He enjoys looking at books and being read to. He especially loves turning the pages prematurely.
He has developed some new skills: high fives, blowing kisses, waving bye-bye, and is starting to use a utensil when eating. He can't scoop food up but likes to hold the utensil and put the food in his mouth.
He's had a cold for the last few days so perhaps it's due to that but we've noticed he's not eating as much. He has always had a voracious appetite so this is new for us. I'm guessing it has more to do with his cold than anything so we'll see.
He now only takes one nap so he and Hudson are synced. He usually sleeps about 2 hours give or take 15-30 minutes. We also still give him warm milk in a bottle but I've also seen him start to drink 1-2 ounces less than normal. I'm constantly putting bottles in the fridge because they're not empty. I may start to give him warm milk in a sippy to wean him off the bottles altogether.
He's still very dependent on mommy and more often than not he wants to be held if mommy is within eyesight. I'm hoping this is just a typical phase and that we'll see some independence emerge soon.
He is getting so big and tall. He is started to lean out and I'm seeing less and less traces of my little baby.

Beckett is into climbing, climbing, climbing. We really have to watch him as he is now able to climb up and down from the couch, chairs, beds, hudson's toybox, etc. His vocabulary is increasing and he is able to say milk, juice, mama, dada, no, down, uh oh, papa and ajax. Some are more decipherable than others. He can also say animal sounds for cow, doggie, and monkey when prompted. We are starting to work on identifying body parts and have a 50/50 success rate with "where's your nose"? He is able to go get his blankey when asked. So cute. He'll run screaming with delight all the way to his room and yank his blanket out of his crib.
He is starting to really enjoy playing with bigger kids at daycare and doesn't want to stop in order to take a nap when he can be with the other kids. He enjoys dancing to music and unlike Hudson, Beckett does not seem to have an ounce of stage fright in him. He loves to be the center of attention. The last couple of weeks his hair has really grown a lot. He has little curls at the nape of his neck but if you pull them out he is definitely rockin' a mullet.
He continues to be an excellent sleeper. We put him down at 7pm and he wakes up ~7-7:30. This is usually because Hudson has woken him up so if Hudson weren't awake who knows how long B would sleep. We pretty much have him on 1 nap in order to sync with Hudson for mommy/daddy's sake. He also continues to have a very healthy appetite and doesn't discriminate when it comes to food. I fed him tofu the other day and he loved it. He eats fish, chicken, and beef. All the proteins Hudson would never eat and still is slightly hesitant about.
It's hard to believe my little baby is getting so big. He is 3 full pounds heavier than Hudson was at his age. I think he's going to be our stout and husky boy!
