Not a ton of changes since Beckett's 13 month blog. He is starting to climb small chairs and is becoming more and more verbal. He will point at things with inflection so he is definitely trying to communicate.  He plays with Hudson as much as Hudson will allow and seems very interested in cars already. Probably because that's what big brother loves.
We continue to try to merge him into 1 nap which has been going fairly well but lately his naps are very short and then he's cranky by dinnertime (5pm) so his bedtime is really early (6-6:30pm).
He continues to have a really healthy appetite although we are seeing some pickyness immerge. He lets us know when he's done by tossing food overboard off his hi-chair tray. Oh yeah, we're at that fun stage. Mommy gets to sweep, sweep, sweep!
He knows how to sign for "more", "milk", and "all done".
He is starting to mimic the sound for "moo" and "ooh ooh ahh ahh" (monkey sound) complete with hand gestures.

All in all he seems to have a very nice temperament. Daycare is having some challenges because he cries until he's held so mommy is trying to break the habit of picking him up. So hard but necessary.

We're looking forward to celebrating Xmas with him and watching him work his way around presents. So far he's only pulled one bulb off the Xmas tree.

13 months

Beckett is now an expert at using his sippy cup. We bought him a new one that is much easier to drink out of and he uses it consistently and likes apple juice. I swear he is even starting to say "juice".  He has started to run and walk backwards and seems very impressed with himself. He got 1/2 of a flu shot at his 12 mth appt and goes in at the end of the month for the second 1/2. (2 separate doses necessary due to his size)

He continues to be a great sleeper and a great eater. He eats really anything put in front of him and in abundance. We are starting to migrate him from 2 naps to 1 (at least mommy is) and he typically goes down at 7pm and wakes up ~6:30am. He would probably sleep even longer but he hears Hudson awake.

We are starting to see signs of separation anxiety when we drop him off at daycare. He starts to cry and doesn't want me to leave. However, we've been pretty successful in distracting him with a toy so I can slip out. He is in a major mommy phase and always want to be held. I probably encourage it by picking him up all the time but it's so hard for me to resist because I know this time is so precious and I'll never get it back.

He is starting to say "dada" more often and is becoming much more interactive. He looks right at you and loves to get a reaction. He giggles when tickled and is starting to enjoy being read to. He is such a sweetheart. He continues to love watching Hudson and learn from him. We are anxious to hear his next words.

We love you so much our little bek-a-boo!

12 months (weight 21lbs10oz height 30 3/4")

Beckett has his 12 month appt in 4 days and we're anxious to see what he weighs.

He is walking exclusively and even running at times. I've also seen him start to climb. He has tried to climb up onto chairs, stools, etc. He definitely gets a workout using those little legs of his.

He has started to say "mama" when he wants his mommy which of course warms the heart. He has also started using the sign for "more" when he's sitting in his hi-chair eating.

Now that he's 1 year we were able to upgrade his car seat and turn him around so that he's facing frontwards. He is drinking cow's milk but still from a bottle. We still warm it up but are leaving the milk in the warmer less and less each time so he can get used to cold milk. He has proven that he is not quite ready for a sippy cup. He doesn't quite understand the concept of tilting it up in order to get the milk to come out.

He is sick with a cold right now and we have been suctioning his little nose which is red and fairly raw. Poor thing! We were in the Methow visiting nana/papa last weekend and Beckett and papa made a special connection over the weekend. Beckett would start going right to papa when coaxed. SO STINKING CUTE!!! I don't know who loves it more...us or papa!

He continues to have a voracious appetite and does not discriminate when it comes to food groups. We've even fed him salmon and while he wasn't sure about the texture at first he went right on eating it.

He is such a sweet little boy and we continue to watch the bond form between Beckett and his big brother.

11 months (20.5 lbs)

Beckett is getting heavier and heavier by the day. He sure is a good workout for mommy's back and arms.    We hit a major milestone in the last month and for the last few weeks Beckett has been walking exclusively. He is really fast and almost looks like he's running sometimes. He can turn on a dime and stand up from a crouching or squatting position. The same low crouch Hudson used to do. We're calling it the Chambers crouch..

He has 8 teeth (4 top and 4 bottom) which really gives him a different look. He is starting to point and say, "oof-oof" when we ask him "where are the doggies?" He loves to clap when we say "yeah!". He has started to laugh a lot, particularly when Hudson is around. The two of them have been playing together more and more which is so fun to see.

Mommy is looking forward to Beckett's 1 year birthday so as to minimize daycare logistics. Once he is 1 he will be enrolled in the food program so we will not have to supply baby food. We'll also transition him to cow's milk instead of formula so bye-bye bottles & warmer. Perhaps most importantly, he will get to face forward in the car and upgrade his car seat. Beau & I each have one so no more carrying the car seat in/out of Rainbow. PLUS, we'll get to see that hilarious moment of Beckett devouring a cupcake and enjoying frosting for the first time!

He's getting more verbal and is SO CUTE! I'm so happy to be the proud mommy of 2 handsome little boys!

A lot of things have happened in the last month. First and most impressively Beckett is taking steps. He has taken probably 10-12 at most and can stand up from a sitting position w/o holding onto something. It has all happened rather suddenly and we don't think it will be long before he's walking exclusively.

He is getting bigger and bigger everyday and is almost too heavy to have in the bjorn. We rarely use it.
He is a GREAT eater and will try anything (at this point). We feed him regular people food exclusively at home but he still eats baby food at daycare at their request. We've tried sweet potatoes, oatmeal, yogurt, peas, corn, macaroni, waffles, meatballs...) He can feed himself with food he can pick up w/ his fingers.

He is sleeping in a little later which is great. No more 5am wake up calls! Probably due to eating people food and having a fuller tummy he now usually sleeps in until 6-6:30 which is great. Hudson wakes up around the same time so that is typically when our day begins.

He has 5 teeth and we see a 6th one about to reveal itself. We are trying to get him to clap and play peak-a-boo. We've also started reading to him so he hears language like we did w/ Hudson.

Knock on wood but aside from a few stuffy/runny noses, Beckett has yet to be sick. He seems to be a very healthy little guy with a tough immune system.

He continues to LOVE to watch Hudson and anything he's doing. He also LOVES to look for daddy and delights when daddy spends 1:1 time w/ him. The two of them sure look a lot alike. Beckett-boo looks like a little mini Beau. SO CUTE!

Our little "tank" is adding more and more skills to his arsenal. He is starting to stand on his own. He crawls extremely fast, pulls up on anything stationary (and even things that aren't) and then slowly lets go. He's getting pretty cocky and doesn't always make sure he's firmly planted before letting go of the stationary object. He is also starting to climb. When he's in his crib he'll stand up on top of his bumbers to look over the top. He climbs the stairs on the deck, my little gray stool, and he likes to climb into and through the bottom shelf of the end tables.

He says mama, dada, and nana but isn't deciphering who is who at this point. He is really verbal and getting louder and louder. He sometimes screeches and then looks very satisfied with himself. He is getting more and more ticklish. If you tickle his tummy, neck, or thighs he bursts into giggles. So cute!

He has recently gotten much more hair. I can tell when I kiss the back of his head there is so much more blond fuzz.  He still likes his swing after his early morning bottle (5am) but otherwise would rather be independent and on the move. He loves to be outside and enjoys being in the bjorn.

I took him grocery shopping last week and put him in the front of the cart sitting by himself for the first time. He did just fine so now I don't have to worry about taking the car seat or bjorn w/ me into the store.

I fed him mashed up banana for the first time and he liked it the first time and wasn't so sure the second time. We are going to start weening him off breast milk so he'll continue w/ formula until he's 1 year old. I'm going to start introducing more and more adult food so he gets used to the consistency. We tried puffs but he just spits them out. He is starting to wave his hand in front of himself when he's done eating. This is his way of letting me know he's done. I am starting sign language with him. We're beginning with "more" and "all done".

He goes to bed around 7 and sleeps through the night until 5am. At which point we get up, feed him a bottle, put him in his swing and go back to bed until Hudson wakes up around 7.

He now has 4 teeth. His 2nd top tooth is breaking through and so far his top teeth are much larger than his bottom. He plays independently half the time and the other half he wants to be with mama. He is so cute and we are calling him "Beckett-bulldozer" as he likes to crawl right over the top of anything in his way.

We love you our little beckett-boo!

8 months

This last month we have seen significant changes and growth in our little beckett-boo.

- He is pulling up on everything and even attempting to transition from one stationary object to another
- He is in the babbling phase and we current hear ma ma ma, da da da, and na na na
- He is eating rice cereal/oatmeal in the morning, vegetable baby food in the afternoon, and fruit baby food in the evening often followed by a bottle after each food meal
- For the past 4-6 weeks he has been waking up btw 5-5:30. We just feed him and put him back down and he falls right back to sleep. Usually in his swing in the living room w/ cartoons on
- We just officially moved from size 3 to size 4 diapers
- He is starting to establish object permanence so not quite as fussy when he can't see mommy/daddy
- He loves to be mobile instead of being stuck in his exersaucer or swing
- He loves to watch Hudson and often crawls into his room to play with his toys

Our little beckett-boo....you have changed a lot in the last month.

- You are now crawling forward and can sit unassisted. We had to lower your crib now that you are starting to pull up on things.
- You are eating baby food twice a day and can't seem to get enough of it. We've started with squash and sweet potatoes because I know once you have fruit you won't want the veggies.
- You are wearing 6-9 month clothes and sometimes 12 month outfits depending on the brand.
- You have two bottom teeth and have been a little cranky this week so we think your top teeth might reveal themselves any day.
- You are getting more verbal and love to holler and screech to make yourself heard.
- You had your first ER visit last weekend. You touched a hot coffee pot and got a 2nd degree burn on the palm of your hand. It is wrapped in a gauze bandage with antibiotic cream and we change your dressing every day. You are such a trooper and don't seem to mind it at all. You sit patiently and watch while mommy and daddy unwrap and re-wrap your little hand. We are calling you our little "mitten man".

You continue to sleep through the night and just get cuter and cuter every day. You are a very content and happy baby most all the time. Mommy is trying to soak in every moment while you are still her little baby.

We love you~

17.1 lbs  (50% weight)  27.5" (90% height)

You are getting bigger and bigger and doing so much since last month. You can scoot around backwards all over the living room. You have figured out how to get up on your knees and rock back and forth. You can bring both knees up toward your hands but aren't quite sure how to move your hands forward to start a crawl. You are SO close and will probably be crawling by the time we post your next blog.

You started eating rice cereal this weekend for the first time. You are quicker to spit it out of your mouth as you're not quite sure what to do with it while mommy sits you in the high chair to feed it to you. We've done it twice now and the second time was better and we got more in your mouth than on your face and bib. We followed it up with a full bottle which put you to sleep immediately. Hopefully the rice cereal will help to keep you full and enable good sleep.

You are getting more verbal and starting to babble much more. We are trying to get you to say "mama" and "dada" but right now you are saying something that sort of sounds like "dad". A couple times you have pursed your lips together and tried to make race car noises. You also just cut your first tooth. It is on the bottom right of your mouth and we know this is just the beginning of more to come soon.

You like to stand in your exersaucer and swing in your upright swing as long as you can see where everybody is and be in the middle of the action. You are so cute and continue to have such a sweet demeanor. You are a very easy and good baby!

17 lbs.

You continue to get bigger and bigger and are starting to wear 12 month clothes already. You definitely have your back to tummy flips down but are slower to show us your tummy to back flips. You get pretty angry when you get stuck on your belly especially in your crib. Daddy has rolled up towels all around your crib to help prevent you from flipping when you're resting. You are able to spin around about 180 degrees in order to get a better view of what you choose to look at.

You seem to like the exersaucer more and more. Especially when you can see mommy, daddy, or hudson in plain view. Your dexterity is improving every day and you are getting really good at reaching for and grabbing things. You like to smile and laugh and make little screaching noises as you attempt to talk. You love to watch your big brother run all over the house. You continue to drool so we are waiting to see a little tooth any day.

You are so adorable and we can't wait to see more and more of your personality emerge. It will be so much fun to see the dynamics between you and Hudson as you begin to establish a relationship.

4 months

15.5 lbs  25.5" tall   (75% height   70% weight)

4 months and you are changing so much. You seem to be taking after your daddy and have a barrel chest and seem to be strong and stocky. You have started to flip from your back to your tummy consistently and have gone from your tummy to your back a few times but you're still working on consistency with that one. You have started to make little race car noises with your mouth and continue to drool so we think a tooth is right around the corner.

You have started to grab at objects including your toes. We have started to give you formula because mommy can't keep up with your appetite. You like to giggle and try to talk with cooing-type noises. You continue to sleep through the night although the last couple of days you have woken up in the middle of the night because I think you got a little bit of mommy's cold.

You like to watch Hudson run around the room. You seem to love the Bjorn whether it's outside with daddy or at the grocery story with mommy. We have started to put you in the Exersaucer and you are patient for a short time but get tired pretty easily. You aren't a huge fan of the bumbo but do well for a short time if mommy/daddy are close by and easy to watch.

Beckett is growing so much! He is starting to wear some 6-9 month clothes already!
We think he is starting to teeth because he's drooling a lot and always has his little fists and fingers in his mouth. He seems to have little fits of pain that we can't attribute to anything else. He did one flip from his tummy to his back after Maxwell's Xmas party (where he flipped from back to tummy) here at home but we haven't seen another one since so we continue to work on tummy time.

He has given us a couple giggles lately. Tia got him going the other day and he was really giving her the giggles. SO CUTE! He is starting to grab the bottle and push and pull on it although I think these are still involuntary vs. intentional movements at this point.

He is able to track people really well and often watches Hudson run around the house.
He isn't eating quite as much as he was the first several weeks but he still has a healthy appetite.

He continues to sleep through the night (LUCKY US)! We put him down around 9:30 after loading him up so he has a full tummy and then put him down and he doesn't typically wake up before 7am. So he typically gets about 10 hours of sleep a night.  I only have about 3 weeks left at home with him and am starting to get scared about leaving him @ daycare while I work all day. Hopefully it will help Hudson's reluctance to have me leave if he knows his brother is staying with him.

2 months (12 lbs. 8 oz. (75% weight) 24" long (85% height)

Beckett is growing like a weed. We have already dipped into the 3-6 month bin of clothes and he's only 2 months old. He is smiling now and trying to talk using little coo's. He flipped from his back to his tummy this last Saturday at Maxwell's xmas party. He hasn't done it since then but we're sure he's going to start doing it consistently anytime. He is able to sit in his bumbo with light head support. We are working on tummy time and he continues to have a really strong neck. We can pretty much hold him with little to no neck support.

He continues to sleep through the night and has since about week 3 or 4. We load him up with a bottle around 9:30pm and he sleeps until somewhere btw 6:30-9am. We are definitely hoping this isn't just a phase.

He loves to be held and doesn't much care for the swing that Hudson lived in. He prefers the vibrator chair and sleeps in it a lot during the day. He has a very delightful disposition and I'm trying to be mindful of every single moment. We love him so much!

6 weeks (10 lbs. (currently) 20" long (at birth)

Beckett is such an adorable baby. We thought it wasn't possible to have an easier baby than Hudson but Beckett is proving us wrong (to date).

Eating: He eats btw 6-9 ounces per feeding and is growing like a weed. He is outgrowing all of his newborn clothes.

Sleeping: At this point, we load him up with a big bottle around 9pm and put him down by 9:30. For the past 2 weeks he has been sleeping through the night not waking up until somewhere btw 5:30-8am. What a difference from Hudson where we were getting up every 2-3 hours all night. He has been sleeping in his crib for about 3 weeks so no sleeping w/ mommy/daddy like Hudson did.

Beckett likes to be held especially on his front over the boppy. He has a strong neck and legs. We are almost able to hold him upright in our arms w/o supporting his neck. He tries to push up on his legs when we hold him w/ his feet touching the ground. We are starting to see the beginning of what looks like a smile.

He was a little jaundiced when he was born so we had to take him in for a couple blood draws but in the end he started eating more and getting hydrated so he was fine.

He has a very different look than Hudson and we think he is so cute. He has very expressive eyebrows that frame a darling face. We are loving spending quality time with both boys while we're both home on maternity/paternity leave.
